On a random Tuesday evening during the pandemic, while sipping his tea, Chef Prakash realized that Calgary misses Authentic Himalayan Style Momos.
Being from Nepal and having traveled across different countries, Chef Prakash decided to introduce momos to Calgary with different variations and styles. Even though it has been a staple food for him growing up, he experimented with different styles and got feedback from friends and family to zero down the menu options. Just like any other small business, Chef Prakash initially started the Calgary Momo house from his home during the pandemic days. While our scientists were creating the vaccine, Chef Prakash was busy getting delicious Nepalese food served to people in the comfort of their homes (Not the same thing, but definitely something to get you through those times). With continuous customer love and support, Calgary Momo House grew into what it is today.
Backed by Chef Prakash’s wife Pooja Ale Magar, a “Calgary White Hat – Best server” nominee, with 10 years of experience in the food and beverage industry, Calgary Momo House is a women-led business, striving to make a change in a male-dominated culture, with most of our employees being females.
Best known for its authentic street food experience in Cityscape, Calgary, Calgary Momo House is the first destination for authentic Nepali dining. Its cultural atmosphere and cozy vibes make dining at Calgary Momo House the go-to restaurant for cultural immersion and lasting memories. Besides, who can say no to its signature dish “Momos”?
What are Momos? Momos are Nepali dumplings that are steamed to perfection. Their petite flour wrap is filled with minced meat, and vegetables, and are served with sweets or an assortment of sauces or soup.
